Orientation

Yesterday, we had orientation for classes and basically figuring out what it is we are supposed to be doing with our time here. Before orientation everyone in the program didn't quite feel that we all knew what was going on. The director gave a short lecture on the University of Hyderabad explaining its various awards and study options. She did a quick overview of the Study in India Program and then we had a tea break :). The teachers of each of the 4 classes offered came to talk about their classes so we would be able to decide what to take. Classes started today and no one has registered.. shows you how things work around here.
I am getting used to India time!
We then went on a bus tour/ bicycle tour of campus. The people who paid for a bicycle got to ride them behind the bus that the rest of us took. I'm SO happy I was on the bus. It was about 95-100 degrees when we took this tour and the bus I thought was hot. I could not have imagined trying to keep up with a bus on a bicycle. Then again this bus didn't go very fast and the bikes don't have the best brakes so we had a few close calls of bikes rear-ending the bus. No casualties thank God.

We stopped at the student shopping center and I bought a Magnum chocolate covered coffee ice cream bar! So yummy on that hot of a day..

So, later that night we realized we must register with the Hyderabad Police Department. We had to answer all these questions online about our passport and addresses in the city and back home.. etc.. But the strange thing is that we only had to register if our visas were over 180 days. Mine was 183. Along with the online paperwork we had to have an HIV test! Our results come back in 24 hours.. Here's to hoping I'm HIV free! :)
